The story of the painting
Can motorcycle boots become a subject for a painting? Of course! This is another painting from the series devoted to motorcycle gear, which has already featured a black helmet. The two paintings share a distinctive blue line that gives the compositions clarity and a particular dynamism.
The line cuts through the image, separating the motorcycle gear from the reality around us while symbolically connecting the two worlds. The dark background brings out the glossy surfaces of the boots, where light creates unexpected reflections. Colours, contrasts and geometric forms build a sense of movement, and some shapes only reveal themselves when you look for longer.
It's a large painting that shows how even an everyday object can become a fascinating subject for painting. It asks for a careful look, but anyone who rides a motorcycle will recognise the object straight away. In an interior it can be a strong, striking accent, especially where contemporary design meets a love of motoring.
