2–30 August 2026
Where
U Krawca Cafe, 5 Siennicka Street, Warsaw
Type
Exhibition and un-opening

“Bąbelki” (Polish for bubbles) promised something light, friendly and neighbourly with its title alone. I painted inflated objects in warm colours: the kind you want to touch and simply spend time with. Throughout August 2026 they hung at U Krawca Cafe, a small and very popular café in Warsaw's Grochów district.

To underline the relaxed character of the show, instead of an opening I held an un-opening. No dress code, no speeches, hardly any questions and no talk about art. Instead of a classic opening we got something completely different: a wonderful gathering of people in a tiny café and on the pavement outside.

The turnout surprised us. People chatted over great coffee and glanced at the paintings along the way. Whole families with children came, and outside the café we drew on the pavement together. Art became a natural part of a summer get-together, with no distance and no imposed rules.

Exhibitions in cafés surprise no one these days, but a neighbourhood gathering that happens mostly on the pavement outside is something special. For me it was a personal success and a lovely experience. More proof that art can simply bring people together, make them happy and give them a reason to spend time with each other.
